Time-lapses (and stuff)

Well, this is a bit more personal. After rendering so many frame-by-frame animations for scientific visualization purpose, I wanted to shoot some real-world ones. I got myself a GoPro, a little GorillaPod, and there we go!

Back to the port - Le Guilvinec, France (11/2015)

Le Guilvinec is an important fishing port located at the very south-west of Brittany, France. This was shot on the afternoon of November 18, 2015 as fishing vessels head back to port after a few days spent at sea. The weather was very windy, hence the shaking despite a good deal of post-process video stabilization.

Over the lagoon - Chacahua, Mexico (02/2015)

Chacahua is a remote fishermen village sitting at the very end of the Lagoon of Chacahua National Park, state of Oaxaca, Mexico. Kind of a lost paradise … This mix of footage was shot in February 2015. The somewhat intense boat activity (final time-lapse) is due to a wedding party on the right bank of the lagoon!

Sunrise - Boca del Cielo, Mexico (02/2015)

Boca del Cielo is a tiny lagoon on the south Pacific coast of Mexico, state of Chiapas. This was shot on the early morning of February 14, 2015 - that was one sweet Valentine's day! Notice, from the ripples, how the wind rises as soon as the sun appears.

Taking the Stream Line down - Chico, California (01/2014)

For the last phase of the Chico experiment, the Doppler lidar was installed on the roof of the REAL. This sequence was shot January 15, 2014, as we take the lidar down prior to shipping it back to the UK.

Sunset - San Jose del Pacifico, Mexico (12/2013)

San Jose del Pacifico is a tiny village, up in the Sierra Madre del Sur, overlooking the far away Pacific coast - state of Oaxaca, Mexico. It is the scene of dramatic atmospheric action. This was shot on December 25, 2013, in the late afternoon.
